Whether you are a college student or a seasoned professional, MLT has a volunteer opportunity for you — one that you'll find highly rewarding as you help others realize their full potential. MLT volunteers provide school and /or career advice to our participants, assist with seminars, and/or serve as moderators in the MLT web community.

CAREER OR INDUSTRY ADVISOR AND PANELIST

Volunteers will be part of a pool of advisors who are available to provide program participants with valuable insight about their industry, firm and career path, via conference calls and webinars. Volunteers may also be asked to speak on panels at Career Prep or MBA Prep events and would receive no more than five inquiries per year from current Fellows and alumni.

ESSAY REVIEWERS

Volunteers assist MBA Prep Program coaches by reviewing two business school draft applications between September and December, with an estimated time requirement of three - four hours. At that point, two prior reviewers will already have read the drafts. Volunteers must be current business school students or graduates with strong writing/editing skills.

RESUME AND COVER LETTER REVIEWER

Volunteers would review and provide feedback on no more than five resumes and five cover letters of a college student over the course of the year. These students would be targeting careers in your industry or one in which you have had recent experience.

BUSINESS SCHOOL MOCK INTERVIEWER

Volunteers conduct in-person practice interviews with aspiring MBAs and provide feedback on interviewee's composure, conviction, rationale for their interest in business school and the chosen MBA program. Volunteers would conduct no more than four interviews over the course of the year, each lasting 45-60 minutes with some of that time devoted to actionable feedback. Volunteers must be current business school students or graduates and will likely be matched with program participants applying to their school/alma mater.

ENTRY-LEVEL JOB OR SUMMER INTERNSHIP MOCK INTERVIEWER

Volunteers conduct in-person practice interviews with college seniors seeking entry-level jobs in your industry or college juniors seeking summer internships. Volunteers provide feedback on interviewee's industry knowledge, ability to communicate clearly with composure and conviction, clarity of story, and overall job readiness. While an MBA is not required, volunteers should have at least two years of recent experience within the specified industry. Mock interviews should last no longer than 90 minutes, including feedback to students. Volunteers may conduct as many mock interviews as they would like.

VIRTUAL MENTOR

Virtual mentors provide advice via email to students who are looking for career and academic guidance. Volunteers submit personal and professional profiles that Leadership Roadmap members can search on our Virtual Mentor pages. Our high school and college students can email you for advice about careers in your field, general guidance on job interview tips, tips on how to write a good resume, etc. We seek college students, young professionals, MBA students, mid-level managers, senior executives and educators to mentor via the career development website, Gotta Mentor. There is no time commitment assigned to this opportunity.

ALUMNI PROFESSIONAL PROFILER

Bring to life personal stories of minority leaders for the entire MLT community. The profiles describe the individual's career paths, day-to-day responsibilities, and advice for others across various career stages who seek advice and guidance within their field. Profiles are compiled from either a twenty-minute interview or written questions that the volunteer answers. We seek African American, Hispanic and Native American volunteers with two years of work experience to the most senior corporate levels.
